These Colors Run as Fast as They Can

Look for a potentially interesting weekend, since Philadelphia’s unruly mix of creative artists and political activists are likely to come up with something outrageous at this weekend’s Dash for Democracy, a 5K run/walk sponsored by the political watchdog group Committee of 70. (Side note: Visit the 70 site if you live in Philly and don’t know where to vote on Tuesday. You’re voting, right?)

The event organizer is none other than Dave McGillivray, the same guy who directs the Boston Marathon. How’d they get him? They’re asking participants to focus on creative ways to raise political awareness about particular issues in upcoming mid-term elections. I’m hoping to see some Philadelphia favorites”"Mummers, maybe? Or how about the giant puppets turned out by Spiral Q puppet theater?

Online registration is closed, but you can still register until 6 p.m. today in the lobby of Morgan Lewis (1701 Market St.), or on Saturday at the Constitution Center (525 Arch St.) from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
