Tonight’s Pick: Let’s Get Guitarded
Tonight at the Khyber, the true hard-charging lords of the riff will be separated from the hordes of guitar slugs, and they will be carried on golden litters to their new homes in rock Valhalla. Or surely something along those lines.
Guitar Hero is a game where you try to play along to Kansas and Thin Lizzy on a fake guitar with five “frets” and a single “string.” Do those who take up this plastic sceptre and attempt to command these hallowed classic rock tunes get so incredibly into it that they rock in a way typically reserved for the likes of, say, Spinal Tap? Yes. Is it amazing and often baffling to watch? Yes. This event will hopefully be the first of many.
Hopeful contestants: BYO memory card and your guitar. Curious onlookers: This is where you will drink beer tonight and pay homage to your new lords.
