Mummers String Band

Well, uwishunu’s live coverage wasn’t the only thing that was delayed today. There was a lengthy delay in the mummers parade and although we can’t explain what held up the String Bands for almost an hour after the Fancies (Tom? Did the String Bands fall prey to the demonic-yet-glorious wiles of blackberry or schnapps?), we can tell you that they’re here now.

And boy, are they.

Posted By Libby and Annie, still at Cadence in the Kimmel Center, now with Bloody Mary’s. Happy uwishunuYEAR.

About the Blogger

I was born into European royalty, privately tutored by Stephen Hawking in between touring as a child with my uncle (Mick Jagger), classically trained at the Sorbonne and apprenticed under Picasso for a brief (blue) period. I attended MIT for a few semesters before being recruited by NASA and then decided to pursue my hobby of tennis professionally with the USTA Women's Tour. After winning 4 consecutive Grand Slam Titles, I took some time off and ghost-wrote the Da Vinci Code. Now I live in Philly.

Tom Says:

Not totally sure what it was about, but there seemed to be a lot of anxiety about the wind blowing over their gigantic props (with disastrous results).

We watched the first string band (the 60s/hippie theme) have to stop for at least 15 minutes to take apart a backdrop that had torn apart in the wind down by Jackson. Must have been happening up and down Broad.

I’m sorry — the Mummers Parade, which I love, just isn’t the same when it’s 70 degrees and not New Year’s Day.
