Taste the Neighborhood at the A-Space

A-Space

The A-Space is a collectively run anarchist community center and art gallery, free to the public providing informative activities and events. Every last Friday “Poems not Prisons,” hosted by Duiji M’Shinda, gives young inspiring poets their chance to shine. Saturday night, “Books through Bars“ helps collect books to send to inmates for new reading material. Food, music and an open-mic follow for rappers, poets and percussionists to get down and do their things. The space also hosts discussions on how women can protect themselves against sexual assault, dance classes, healing circles, and a lot more. All neighborhoods should have a center like this, someplace where you can see and experience a different side of life.
