They Put the Cake in Crab Cake

In search of the crabbiest CRAB CAKE?

I know where it is. Devon Seafood Grill. Seriously–nothin’ but that sweet, sweet jumbo lump crab.  Mmmmm”¦ jumbo lump crab (said in my best Homer Simpson voice).

OK, so Devon isn’t insider, nor is it unconventional or “underground.” But, the crab cakes deserve a nod. Every once in a while my boyfriend and I crave these little cakes of heaven and head over to Rittenhouse Square and Devon. Often enough that we’ve joined their preferred membership program to get free birthday dinners.

We were there this past Saturday night surrounded by a very fun and boisterous crowd. Aside from a waitress slightly on the snooty side (I think her name was Carmela”¦ watch out for her) we had a BALL!

And in case you didn’t know, Devon offers an everyday 3-course prix fix menu ($32.50) that does, indeed, include the crab cakes.

Next time I’ll tell you about their calamari appetizer. Mmmmmm”¦ calamari.

Brennen says:

As one who spent his formative years in Maryland (crab country), I can confirm that Devon’s crabcakes are delish. I also especially enjoyed the clam chowder that came with my fixed price meal. My only complaint was that I was too full to eat the key lime pie. Oh well–I devoured it later at home while watch 24.
