Dept. of Bargain Culture: Free Kimmel Shows
When even the PECO power hour tickets are out of your budget, but you can’t help but wonder what the heck goes on inside of the Kimmel Center, there are still certain days you might be able to find out. The Kimmel hosts a series of highly varied and free performances in its Commonwealth Plaza. Last week, Sunny Murray drummed with the Khan Jamal trio, and if you were heading past you could have walked right in to see what the racket was all about. It’s worth keeping in mind for the next time you’re next stealing wireless at the Barnes and Noble, drinking water from its fountain and wondering what to do with your broke afternoon. And even if there’s nothing up, you can still go hang out in the Kimmel Center’s rooftop garden.

Someone should really book Jimmy Kimmel to tape from the Kimmel.
