Get Your Snack On

So I broke my BYOB habit and headed over to Snackbar on 20th & Rittenhouse Square. I had to support owner Jon Makar, who, like myself, moved out of Wilmington, Delaware into the 215.
Snackbar is no “insider” favorite”"I’ve been reading rave reviews all over the place”"but I’ll tell you my favorite thing about it. My mom doesn’t have to threaten “no TV” in order to get me to eat my vegetables there. Oh no. At Snackbar, Chef Jonny Mac’s grilled brussel sprouts are enhanced with shaved black truffles, and they are oh-so-good. The Chef has skills, and he’s sweet to boot.
Don’t be confused by the name”"Snackbar is not the place for afternoon munchies like french fries and onion rings. (It is in Rittenhouse, after all.) Surprisingly, it is a place to grab a coffee and a pastry in the mornings, and lunch starts at 1 p.m.
So, don’t bring-your-own-bottle, but do bring an adventuresome palate and a little patience”¦ seating in this teeny spot is first-come, first-served.

I get it — the dining scene in Philly is hot, but apparently our chefs are even hotter. Look out!
