Super Bowl Filled with Philly Talent
Yes, we here in Philadelphia know that none of the city’s pro teams have celebrated a championship since 1983 when the Sixers paraded down Broad Street. And of course that didn’t change after Super Bowl Sunday. But Philly can still cheer for its hometown hero athletes who played in the big game–most notably, Marvin Harrison, who is a future hall-of-famer with the Indy Colts and Philly-born and raised. #88 is now the proud owner of his very own Super Bowl ring.Harrison is widely considered the most famous alum to graduate from Roman Catholic High on North Broad Street. He has played all of his 11 NFL seasons with the Colts. As a wide receiver, he holds several Colts franchise records, and will go down as one of the best receivers to ever play the game. His path to stardom began right here in Philly.
Marvin’s teammate Dan Klecko, a Temple University alum, has been on this stage before. Only in his fourth NFL season, Klecko has won two Super Bowl rings, both with the Patriots. Raheem Brock is another Colt who played his college ball at TU.
Jason McKie, yes, another Temple product, suited up for da Bears last night. Football is not Temple’s strength, to say the least (15 straight losing seasons). But this fun factoid number one reveals that there are more Temple players on the Colts’ and Bears’ active rosters than players from powerhouses Notre Dame, USC, Texas or Oklahoma. Go figure.
Go Temple. Go Philly. But most of all, congratulations Marvin, Dan and Raheem!

I forget if I posted about it, but DID YOU KNOW that a Philly team hasn’t won a national title since Liberty Place went up? Maybe everybody already knows, but yea, we are, unfortunately CURSED! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_of_Billy_Penn
