Bullseye: The Other Target
Hey. Pssst. The Columbus Blvd. Target isn’t the only Target in Philadelphia. There’s also one in Port Richmond. Now I know, I know. This isn’t that special. Target is just another big box store. But I remain convinced that the Port Richmond Target is “off the beaten path” and thereby manages to have awesome clearance deals. In reality, this is probably not the case. If the store were actually off the beaten path, the Target Corporation would deem it a financial waste and close it. Still, I will stand by the idea that the Port Richmond Target has “cred,” and if you shop there you can have conversations like this:
You: “Oh, I’m going to Target.”
Your Friend: “On Columbus Blvd?”
You: “Oh, no. I’m going to the cool Target, the indie Target, the Target that not everyone goes to.”
Your Friend: “Wow. Hey man, you might want to watch out.”
You: “Oh, why?”
Your Friend: “Because you are totally oozing with something… oh, it’s awesomeness.”

Double whoops! I accidently deleted a comment from Cathy pointing out that the bestest Target is in Port Richmond, not Bridesburg. Duly noted. I’ve edited the post so nobody gets confused. Where is Bridesburg, anyway?

See, here’s the thing: I consider that area Port Richmond too, but the Target website says it’s the Bridseburg Target. The areas are right up against one another, I think, with Bridesburg being to the Northeast of Port Richmond. But yeah, calling it Port Richmond is great!

How dare Target attempt to short-change Port Richmond?!
By the way, I LOVE that particular store. It’s nearly empty–so much so that I fear the company will close it.

Indie Target? Whoa. While I do shop there, “indie” not only in the same sentence as Target, but as an adjective describing the chain store of all chain stores made me feel a little funny.

Oh oh: I definitely don’t consider any Target to be “indie” (hence pointing out that it’s another big box store). I meant that conversation to be considered much more humorous than serious.
