Equation of Deliciousness
I love food, but one thing I don’t know too well is sushi. There’s actually a good chance you could put a piece of sock in a sushi roll and I’d be like “Hmm, that must be blow fish. I don’t think I like blow fish.” But while I don’t know sushi too well, I do know tasty, and oh-my-goodness, Haru’s sushi is fantastic. Thanks to the prix fixe menu-magic of Restaurant Week, my roommate and I went and gorged ourselves on sushi, sashimi, tempura, and dumplings last night. While I was there, I did some math:
Crab dumplings + crispy salmon roll + warm sake + mochi ice cream = love
Now, in case you aren’t familiar with mochi ice cream (I wasn’t), here’s the deal: mochi are glutinous rice balls, which is a food that tastes much better than its description sounds. And the ice cream in question isn’t just flavored like mochi, but it LIVES INSIDE of the mochi. So: delicious, sticky mochi outside, smooth ice cream inside. And it was garnished with strawberry sauce. Now, I’ll tell you. I love a good chocolate torte, but man. Mochi ice cream. That’s not something you get to eat every day. Unless you go to Haru every day. Which maybe you should.
