Trashpicking Art at Kinko’s at 3AM

made-at-kinkos.jpg

A running joke I have with my best friend Jamie is that I write him a letter, stamp it, don’t mail it because I can’t ever get to the post office before it closes, and end up rendering all I write obsolete through emails.

Some things you can’t just do whenever you want to on the Internet, though, and you need to find a twenty four hour solution. For me, that one thing that is impossible to do at home is making hundreds of copies on a gigantic photocopier. I’m never ready to do it until 12:30AM, and at that hour I am most thankful for the FedEx/Kinko’s at 22nd and Market, open all night long.

Yeah, yeah, an all-night copy place, whatever, right? Nah. If you’re a Found Magazine person, you can’t beat the late night crew’s garbage copies. Moore girls with projects due the next day? Wild entrepreneurs putting together last minute handouts for the morning’s Important Meeting? Me and my friend Mike? All regulars, all throwing away bizarre copies where the margins aren’t just so. Go recycle them yourself.

That’s funny because I use to be one of those Moore girls with last minute projects. I remember walking to Kinkos at 2am from school to get a final printed.
