WEEKEND PICKS

FRIDAY_

Making Time
Pure, 1221 Saint James St
The monster boss of all dance parties rears its Saturday-morning-destroying head once again. “Special guest live performance by Crystal Castles. With resident on the Main Floor: DJs Dave P, Dave Pak, Mike Z. In the Basement: A Rock Tits Event with Joel, Nez, Hodges, Russ Alexander and “Distroy Roy”. On the Mezzanine: Special guest DJs Simian Mobile Disco along with residents Julian S. Process, Adam Sparkles and JDH. Select open bar from 9pm-11pm. 9pm. $10.”

magik markersMagik Markers / Air Conditioning / Ospreys / Satanized
Johnny Brenda’s
You can even pregame Making Time by going to the total bummer “definitely nobody dancing” noise show. Markers are playing as an ultra-trash guitar/drum duo, Air Conditioning are the tornado in that movie Twister that scoops up those cows, and the local rabble will be transmuting the air into lead. Bonus – my dad will be at this! 9pm. $8.

SATURDAY_

Peanut Butter & Jams with Robbie Schaefer
World Cafe Live
Wild morning times for the under 10 crew with kid songs dude Robbie Schaefer. 11:30am, $7/10.

nethersThe Boggs / The Capitol Years / Nethers / El Dorado
Johnny Brenda’s
Rock and roll wildness. The Boggs have been laying low for the past few years (right? who else was at that jawn at the TLA with the Rapture in like 2002?), but last I checked, they were playing wicked dirt music from city rooftops. Capitol Years are Philly’s indie rock pride and Nethers are on a level that nobody realizes yet. 9pm, $8.

Night Hike at Tyler Arboretum
515 Painter Road, Media, PA 19063
A guided midnight flashlight walk through the Tyler Arboretum is on at midnight. Adults only and BYO flashlight. $8

SUNDAY_

An Evening with Haale and King Britt
World Cafe Live
Our other long-standing godfather of dance music, King Britt, spinning weekend-ender come-downs. 7:30pm. $10/12.

ALL WEEKEND_

Philadelphia Flower Show – Legends of Ireland, through Sunday, at the Convention Center. Everyone’s going, do it!

Othello, through Saturday, May 19. Everyone’s favorite moor gets played big time. Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival

I go to the same vacation spot with the PB & Jams folks… my entire family sings “Bellybutton” all the time.
