First Person Story-Slams
On Tuesday, April 24th, Philadelphia’s first competitive, real-life storytelling competition kicks off, starting off with host Madi Distefano, groundbreaking actor, director, writer, and founder of Brat Productions.
This month’s theme will be “firsts” encouraging participants and competitors to share stories about their various first experiences. First dates, first kiss, first words, and so forth. Ten participants will step up to the mic and tell a story at each slam, and after being judged by their peers, the highest scorers will win an invite to November’s Grand Slam, where they can compete for the title of Philadelphia’s Best Storyteller.
Doors to the slam open at 7:30pm, the show begins at 8:30pm, at the L’Etage. Check out First Person Arts’ official website for more information on the event, and to learn a little more about this amazing nonprofit that is hosting it.

This is not the first story slam in Philadelphia. There is a bi-monthly competition in Northern Liberties that’s been going on since October…
