Ethiopian Food As Coffee-Shop Snack
Kaffa Crossing has great coffee. It also has a very pleasant atmosphere for a place to spend a sunny West Philly afternoon. But the real reason I go there is for their Spicy Lentil Wraps. The wraps are tight curlicues of injera spread with a thin layer of spicy red lentil paste. Served warm or cold, they make the perfect accompaniment to a strong cup of coffee when you’re feeling a little too hungry for a cookie to suffice.
Mild Lentil Wraps are also an option, although one that I haven’t yet tried, and won’t until the spicy ones run out.
Any time you go to Kaffa Crossing, you’ll be supporting an absolutely lovely independently-run, Fair Trade coffee shop. And if you happen to take my advice and order one of the lentil wraps, it will probably be the only time you’ll ever eat Ethiopian food with a fork.
