If you’re a regular uwishunu reader, you probably know all about the custom uwishunu room we created at the Westin Philadelphia. Here’s the whole story, but the basic idea is that we gathered more than a dozen Philly artists and designers and asked them to help us turn a hotel room into a work of art. We’re thrilled with the results, and we think you will be too.
To whet your [...]
A few weeks ago, my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting the Four Seasons Philadelphia Spa for luxurious and relaxing treatments. Imagine my happiness when I was invited back to check out the Spa’s fresh renovation. The whole facility has been redone, and it’s now much more contemporary and vibrant. I especially liked the large, colorful prints of Rob Cardillo’s flower photography that are featured in every room. The pictures exude health and well-being, which is exactly [...]

If you find yourself in the Fairmount area during a sudden downpour, neighborhood businesses have got your back, and it’s probably still dry. Although I’m philosophically in favor of getting caught in the rain every once in a while (keeps you from taking yourself too seriously), sometimes it’s just not the day for a lesson in humility.

The first person in history [...]

Can we submit this to Second Life? Philadelphia, represent!
In this version of our fair city, there are only a few pedestrians and no cars… but it’s [...]

Amada, on Chestnut Street has the WORST PINATAS EVER! But people don’t pack the joint to beat the meat with sticks, they come for Amada’s flat out amazing tapas.
Tapas are pretty much Spanish dim sum, little plates of food that can be shared by a group, though tapas are a night food instead of a brunch food. Tapas in Spain, also like dim sum here, are rather modest items. Amada however takes tapas to a gourmet level.
Their [...]

Imagine someone with a slightly raised chin and serious lips, with one hand’s fingers and thumb coming together in a spire that they are shaking at you. This person is explaining to you that there is a pizza, and there is a pizza.
Being a West Philly, I am many, many blocks from the nearest pizza. The mood struck while I was downtown a few weeks back and, too far from Marra’s and not [...]
