It took me a few weeks to realize, six years ago, that I didn’t have to take 76 to get from University to City Line, that it was ten minutes faster and five miles closer to take Belmont, and that I could even bike that way. On lazy or especially snowy mornings that winter I still drove that way, because the city just doesn’t tower quite like it does from the river’s west banks. Downtown is a distant blip from the Jersey bridges, but here it looms.

I shot this immediately after getting back from two weeks of being stranded in the mountains of western North Carolina and did so thinking, oh my god, finally.
