Many Body at Temple Gallery
Post submitted by Peter Minkus
Remember You Are Beautiful, from the Manybody Exhibit at Temple Gallery in Old City? Well, the rest of the show is well worth mentioning too – I just stopped by the other day, and it’s something else.
Imagine a version of this past winter’s ICA show limited by a smaller space. Then, consider artists whose concept of “counter-sensical” work takes the show beyond the boundaries of the art space and into the streets. The official site states the show’s mission as “[Being] about artist multiples and multiples of artists-that is, artist groups-whose collective resources facilitate distinct social and political goals.”
Participating groups include: A/Way (Space 1026), Celebrate People’s History: Poster Project, Project Hello, Tit Pin, the West Philadelphia Re-Signage Committee, and the aforementioned You Are Beautiful. Time’s running out and the show comes down at the end of the month (July 21st). The artists are running a blog showing new work and updates on what they’re all up to – note this coming Saturday’s Solar Cooker Cook-Off, from 1-5pm. Drop in before the art (and food) is gone!
