Weekend Picks!

Hey Angel / Beast Infection
With: The 56 Kid / DJ Scott Anger
Tritone, 1508 South
Hey Angel is the new(?) Belegost band, the big West Philly big guitar hope sound. Beast Infection are a bunch of weirdos that I thought disappeared from the face of the earth. The 56 Kid plays acoustic rockabilly. This will be a fun and varied little night, but it’s also cheap enough to peace out if I’m wrong and you hate it. $5, 10pm.
Harry Potter Release Party
Big Blue Marble Bookstore, 551 Carpenter Lane
Go ahead and call me a muggle or whatever, but I’m not a fan of the Harry Potter franchise. On the other hand, I am for the most part a fan of fun, and there will be a lot of people having seriously unabashedly nerdy fun at Big Blue Marble on Friday night while they wait for the store to start selling them copies of the last Potter book. Apart from a Harry Potter band (“The Marauders”), trivia, readings, activities and crafts, there will also be excited, over-stimulated kids staying up late and going into public frenzies. Hopefully, they’ll also be dressed as wizards. 7:30pm-midnight, free.

The Punk Rock Flea Market
Starlight Ballroom, 460 N. Ninth St
Tons of amazing junk and crafts. Read about it here. 10am-5pm. $3.
Upstairs at the Khyber: England Belongs to Twee!
The Khyber, 2nd and Chestnut
Old gentlemen punx Mike McKee and Brian Labuda play working class oi! anthems and indie-pop classics. For the Crass and K Records crews alike.
9pm. Free.
