When I stopped in to Bargain Thrift I was admittedly on a specific mission to find a large frame backpack for a rapidly approaching trip to Italy. No luck. Yet, within minutes my arms were filling up with other newfound necessities worth breaking my “no spending” budget: black messenger bag with lots of zippers ($2), almost brand new powder blue Pumas ($10), Dostoevsky & Beckett paperbacks (25 cents each), and some strappy tank tops that would fare well on the Tyrrhenian Sea!

Bargain Thrift is housed in an old plumbing supply warehouse just shy of 10,000 sq. ft. It is hands-down the primo secondhand goods destination in Germantown! This new location is a beautifully rehabbed building providing tall ceilings, exposed brick walls, and tons of natural light for shoppers while they peruse the great selection of vintage and newer finds.

The rows upon rows of clothing are clearly labeled, including a separate room full of books, lots of bags and shoes, and an entire rack of ornate wedding dresses. Plus, the hand painted map of Germantown on the wall will not disappoint you. Daily half price specials and late hours on Wednesday & Thursday are just the icing on the cake! (Hours: M-Tu 9:30-6, W-Th 9:30-8, F-Sa 9:30-6)

I LOVE THIS THRIFT STORE!!! I got two of my favorite shirts there, on the same day. That whole section of Germantown Ave is cool- I also like the vegetarian restaurant that’s almost directly across the street- I blogged about it once. They have AMAZING vegan chocolate cake (I’m not vegan, but it was still one of the best cakes I’d ever eaten). Anyhow, go here, but don’t buy the stuff I want, you should leave it for ME.

It is an AWESOME thrift store and if you dig vintage- I know she has a ton of great women’s vintage clothing- dresses, jackets, shirts etc.. The owner is really cool. I’m kind of a “competitor” (I sell men’s vintage clothing) but she has always been super cool and really helpful! Definately check it out!!
