Franklin Square Mini-Golf

I’ve never been a huge fan of contact sports or anything that requires running long distances. I’ve tried bowling for recreation and sport but it always leaves my wrist in excruciating pain the following day. Until I find a racquetball court that doesn’t require a fiduciary commitment to a sports club or am able to get an air-hockey table in my apartment, mini-golf will remain my competitive sport of choice.
Luckily, one of the many perks of Franklin Square Park (located at 6th and Race Streets) is its quaint Philadelphia inspired mini-golf course. Though it loses a little bit of ambiance by being located in the middle of a city rather than on a boardwalk, it is kept superbly clean and hardly ever overly crowded. At $8 ($6 for children) for 18 holes you can putt-putt through Love Park and Boat House Row, hear the sounds of Philadelphia International Records, and the 18th hole is a line-drive straight up the crack of the Liberty Bell.
Franklin Square’s 6.5 million dollar renovation last year, with the help of Once Upon a Nation, also features a carousel, fountain, play equipment, and plenty of green space so it’s perfect for any family outing whether you’re visiting or local. Mini-Golf stays open until 9 p.m. in the summer months so it also makes the perfect first date ice breaker before a night out on the town.
