Schuylkill River Park Dog Run

Welcome to the dog days of summer.
I don’t own a dog. In fact, I don’t want to own a dog”"not in the city. But a lot of other people do”"like my son. So when we want to check out what the downtown dogs are up to, we head on over to the Schuylkill River Park Dog Run. There we get to meet lot of dogs, big and little”" both with their own special area to run, play and check out their breed of neighbors.
Being a fan of the smaller sized breeds, my son and I usually head over to the small dog area first where a variety of frisky furry friends are gallivanting around. We often go inside and sit on the bench to watch the dogs play. Dog owners are a friendly breed themselves. They’ll allow us to pet their dog if we ask. They treat their little companions as they would their own kids. In fact, some of the rules of the Dog Run are much like the rules any mom or dad would enforce at the playground:
Do not leave your dog unattended.
No biting, fighting, or bullying.
Do not bring food into the run.
Do not bring toys that cannot be shared.
No digging — if your dog digs a hole, please fill it. (sand box rule only).
The dog run is located right next to the Taney playground (more to come on that) so when you’re done watching the pooches play, the kids can run around their own version of the doggie run. Same rules apply.
