Gia Carangi Mystery Tour

Post submitted by Chad Brown
When was the last time you slipped down a dark alleyway and wondered how many feet had gone before you? In this particular section of central Philadelphia a young Gia Carangi’s size 8 shoes slid, and sometimes stumbled, well before the glitz and glamour of her eventual modeling arc would have you. Although some establishments remain that had party to her teenage years mostly have faded away under thirty years of time stream, put some David Bowie on your headphones and go back in time to walk in the footsteps of Philadelphia’s only true supermodel where she came to offset the Great Northeast.
Try vibing out Chestnut between 12th and 10th for traces of London’s Victory and The Second Story. After that, ask around for a lift to Gatsby’s ghost and then sock it to the tummy with a stroll and swing by the old Hoagie City, a remnant of the chain steered by Joseph, Gia’s father. When the Bowie runs out, play “Cycles” by Frank Sinatra and don’t be worried about gettin’ misty.
