Philadelphia Ratha Yatra

Krishna’s chariots are rolling out tomorrow at noon. The Ratha Yatra festival is a major Hindu date celebrating the deity’s annual trip back home, and yeah, you better believe we’re living it up in Philadelphia with a parade and a free vegan and vegetarian feast.
The parade starts at Love Park at noon and will feature gigantic floats for Krishna, his older brother Balarama and his sister Subhadra. The parade is going to move down the parkway to Eakins Oval, where it will unfold into a gigantic party. Tons of free food aside, there will be a sweeping celebration of Indian culture, including dancing and drama, live music, crafts, yoga and meditation sessions(!).
The promo material claims that the festival dates back “as far as human records and memory extend.” Go to this particular one and make it the jam to remember.
