Philly Fringe: Trad

Philly Fringe Trad

Trad is an Irish comedy with a wee bit of drama. It is a fable set in present day Ireland. One hundred year old Thomas and his even older father set out on a journey to find Thomas’s long lost illegitimate son. Once I stopped pondering the age of the protagonists, I settled in and really enjoyed the show. It is a true comedy with several laugh out loud moments.

Except for the excellent costumes, the production is extremely minimal with a mostly barren stage and only two props. The actors, with their flawless accents, were more than up to the challenge and utilized that minimalism to thoroughly maintain the audience’s attention. Besides the three actors, the performance included a solo musician who provided background music as well as pleasant segues between scenes.
