POST: Philadelphia Open Studio Tours – Sherman Mills

Video by David Kessler

In today’s POST video, the Philadelphia Open Studio Tours takes you inside Sherman Mills in East Falls Philadelphia. Pam Pawl will take you on a tour through the building and show you how she makes her beautiful textiles. You’ll meet several artists, including gifted sculptors Kate Kaman and Jesse Harrington.

The first part of POST starts this weekend! On October 20th and 21st, studios east of Broad St will open their doors, giving visitors a tour of the studios, and allowing them to purchase artwork. If you’re not sure where to start, visit POST’s official website for lists according to neighborhood, medium, and name.

On Sunday, October 21st from 3 to 6PM, POST is providing an exclusive guided bus tour of artists’ studios, which includes an exclusive viewing of the Uwishunu Room 414 at the Westin Hotel. For more information about getting tickets, visit the official POST website.

David Kessler, the talented director behind these POST videos, was recently featured in the Philadelphia Weekly. Check out his cover story.

Stella says:

Thanks for this great video of the Sherman Mills arts community. However the video only shows a snapshot of the talent we have to offer. There are currently three buildings of artist studios. We have glassblowing, stained glass, and fused glass. You saw some of our sculptors but not the metalsmiths and jewelers. More than 23 artists will participate in POST at our location.

If you want to get the most out of one stop don’t miss our diverse community.

BTW. I’m an artist in building 32 studio 217.

Thanks to David Kessler for his fine work.

David,

Dude, thanks so much for featuring us artists in your movie!
We made a film at the Sherman Mills earlier this year, featuring a ton of Philadelphia artists and artisans. Check it out:
