Literature
Dave Eggers happens to be one of my favorite authors. His memoir, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, was a remarkable book, jumping back and forth from hysterical humor to… well, heartbreaking moments in his life. You Shall Know Our Velocity was fantastic, and his collection of short stories, How We Are Hungry, was yet another wonderful work.
So I’m incredibly excited to say that I’ll be visiting the Central Branch of the Free Library on Tuesday, January 8th, to catch Eggers as he comes to town, discussing his latest book, What is The What. The lecture is free, and yes Metblogs, I’ll be one of those dudes scribbling notes in a leather bound notebook.

According to the link, it looks like this is happening January 9th not January 8th.
HOLLA

I am excited to be attending the One Book/One Philadelphia kick off event tonight at the Free Library!! Dave Eggers’ very moving book “What is the What” needs to be talked and discussed by the entire city. Perhaps it will help end the needlees and endless violence on our own streets.
