Fat Jack's Comic Crypt

When I was growing up there were four things that as a kid that I had to have. Music, Bikes, Art and Comics. I had to be the only black kid in a ten-block radius that collected actual comic books. I think that reading them help develop my imagination in ways that only can be explained as magical.

Fat Jack’s Comic Crypt has, for the last 30 years, been the place to pick up the latest and greatest comics ever. Located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia and a location in South Jersey, Fat Jack’s has stood the test of time and technology.

When I walked in to do the research for this piece, my soul became overwhelmed with childhood joy. The store is beautiful! Up front they have the brand new, fresh off the press copies from all major and independent companies. 3-D posters with vivid color blaze at you from ever wall. They have a grand selection of T-shirts, Action figures, and other rare oddities. They even have the old school lunch boxes, growing up I had an Incredible Hulk one. I wish I knew where it was today–that would be cool.

If you get a chance do me a favor. Take a little visit to Fat Jack’s Comic Crypt. If you have young ones please take them, it’s an experience they will never forget.
