Baby Loves Disco: Comin' at Cha Feb. 3rd At Shampoo

Recently over coffee, my mom mentioned that by the time I was three, I was doing The Hustle. This seemed utterly amazing to me given that I probably drooled all over my disco duds. She swore up and down that she could have brought me to Studio 54 – but it wasn’t very kid-friendly. Enter BLD!

If you haven’t heard of BLD (Baby Loves Disco), you’ve been hiding under that blanky way too much. Don’t just sing: “Hey Mr. DJ I Wanna Dance with my Baby!” — actually do it! Music really does make the people come together. Lady Madonna, is so right (She’s also a big fan of BLD and has attended the events)!

Who are my personal heroes? Well, Heather and Andy are the two main partners, both living in the Philadelphia area, both with kids in the same funny soccer league (the one in South Philly with no real rules, and no real structure), and both with a passion for music, dance and life. They give new meaning to the term “club kids”.

Baby Loves Disco: Comin' at Cha Feb. 3rd At Shampoo

This much anticipated and way cool event sure to transform Shampoo into not Johnson’s Baby Shampoo – but into a child-proof discothèque for kids 5 months to 7 years and their groovy, hey-I’m-still-cool parents. This is the perfect remedy for moms and dads looking for a much-needed break from playground humdrum. Get your groove on to KC, Ms. Gaynor, The Village Peeps, the Bee Gees, Donna Summer and all your faves of yesteryear.

Strut your stuff with your kiddies and let loose for the afternoon for an amazing party (they’re expecting 300 – 500 attendees big and small). We’re talking real music (K-Tel Style) spun by real DJs. Plus… wait for it… Bubble Machines! Hay, Ho, Hay, Ho… there’s also a “Chill Out” area, diaper changing stations, a lot of healthy snacks and optional cocktails for non-driving adults. Night fever is now Afternoon Fever and Garanimals is the new black. So get your tot on the Double Dutch Bus and grab some tickets. Hey, Maybe you’ll see Andy Warhol’s and Ian Schrager’s grandkids there.

Warning: I’ve spent hours on their site because it’s so well-written, cool and informative and I don’t even have kids. If you dare (and you will get hooked) visit www.babylovesdisco.com often as content changes very frequently.

Hi! I'm Eric. I'm a Springsteen-loving, Bon-Jovi singing Jersey boy who recently up and left, relocating to the awesome city of Philadelphia. I teach literature and writing courses at Montgomery County College and Holy Family University, and also work for GPTMC, causing my coworkers to wonder if I have any kind of life. I don't. I enjoy photography, writing, reading, and playing Halo III. I spend a lot of time fussing over my chinchilla, Mittens. He's adorable, and you'll love him.
