City Hall Open House: Meet The Mayor

Look closely. You can actually see me in this picture. The turkey? That’s me! In costume for Thanksgiving! Mom was so proud!
Today, on January 8th, City Hall will have an open house from 4PM to 8PM, where you can meet our new mayor, Michael Nutter. Not only do you get a chance to shake his hand, but you’ll be entertained by the musical sounds of over a hundred of Philadelphia’s youth all throughout City Hall.
Be on the lookout for Philadelphia’s favorite inventor, Ben Franklin, along with William Penn (the gentleman perched up top) to join in the festivities, which include visiting the Mayor’s reception room. Here, City Hall guides will help provide an inside look at the beauty and history of this grand masterpiece.
After the tour, follow the scent of warm cookies and hot chocolate being served underneath a heated tent in the courtyard.
So whether you’re a long time resident or a newbie, take some time after work to head over to City Hall and greet our mayor. Sorry, I won’t be there in my turkey costume this time.
