Kitchenette

Kitchenette

Kitchenette is one of those fun housewares shops that appeals to those who are fluent in Cuisinart as well as folks who think making a cup of tea qualifies them for a spot on Iron Chef.

You have to look to find it “” it is below-street level located under a men’s formal wear shop. But once you are there, you can poke around and find all kinds of items — Calphalon cookware, Bodum espresso machines and odd gadgets like the Peugeot (yes, THAT Peugeot) salt and pepper grinder for serious cooks… fun napkins and paper products, chic tableware and cute platters and trays for those of us who like their take-out meals served in style. And you’ll find everything you need to host a cocktail party.

Pick up some of the Barefoot Contessa cake mixes, toss some of the Dolci sweets on a platter and poke a store-bought canapé on one of their glittery hors d’oeuvres spears and your guests will swear you spent hours in the kitchen…

Excellent! This gives me another excuse to walk through this part of Center City when out on a date with my wife.

I suppose heading into a cool kitchenware place, and Philly is now blessed with two of them, can be a great compatibility litmus test. Don’t be intimidated guys, leap right in!
