Colombian Photography Exhibit hits El Centro de Oro

Colomibian Photography Exhibit hits El Centro de Oro

Taller Puertorriqueño, Inc., known for their great community work and astounding art exhibits is proud to present their newest exhibit Colombia & Philadelphia: Two Decades in Images.

In this exhibit, Tony Rocco’s photographic images capture the beauty, diversity, struggles, and vibrancy of two places that are very close to his heart: Colombia and Philadelphia. Throughout the exhibit, Rocco’s work comes from the mostly black and white portraits of Philadelphia to his most recent work in color created while visiting Cali, and the surrounding area of Valle del Cauca in Colombia. The contrast in medium and treatment of both places and their people turns into an effective visual strategy for the artist and educator striving to present accurately the change and complexity of both places while clarifying misconceptions and laying a path of hope for the future.

Join Taller and the rest of the community for the opening reception on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 5 p.m. This exhibit will also run through April 19, 2008 with a very special closing ceremony to be held on April 16, 2008 in conjunction with Tony Rocco’s fraternity, Gamma Phi Sigma “Hermanos Unidos” Fraternity, Inc.

Rocco is one of eight founders’ of Gamma Phi Sigma, a Latino fraternity founded 16 years ago at Temple University.
