Saturday at the Kimmel: So Percussion
Sprawling drum unit So Percussion is going to knock a couple out in the Perelman Theater on Saturday night. The program includes Steve Reich’s “Music for Pieces of Wood,” group leader Jason Treuting’s “Amid the Noise” suite and David Lang‘s “The so-called laws of nature.” The group’ll be sticking around for a discussion after their performance.
The group describe themselves as “edgy and ancient,” which will hopefully mean that they sound like brutal time-crushing drummers from the stars, and not like Steven King TV-movie villains. I am taking my dad to this and will report back.
