First Annual Philly Beer Geek Finals Competition @ Johnny Brenda’s
We’ve got another fantastic Beer Week video for you, this time, highlighting Northern Liberties! Sure, you’ll learn some more about beer in this video… but will you have enough knowledge to compete with the finalists at Johnny Brenda’s tonight? Probably not, but don’t feel bad. They’re Beer Geeks.
We all know that Johnny Brenda’s is a great place for music and drinks. Mark and Audrey taught me that. And this week, it’s a great place for a contest… the first annual Philly Beer Geek finals competition. Registered semi-finalists in the competition will be competing for a grand prize worth over $1000.
Judges include Carol Stoudt of Stoudt’s Brewing, Tom Dalldorf of Celebrator Beer News, Suzanne Woods of Philly’s In Pursuit of Ale Women’s Beer Club, Larry Horwitz of Iron Hill Brewery, Jack Curtin, Philly Beer writer, and Tom Kehoe of Yard’s. They’ll be challenging the competitors with beer trivia, taste tests, beer philosophy, and more to select the individual who shows the greatest universal knowledge and passion for Philadelphia beer.
Doors open at 7 pm with the competition kicking off at 8. Afterwards, The Rolling Boil Blues Band will be performing at 10:15. It’s only $5 to get in, and you can order your tickets online. For more info, check out Philly Beer Geek, or Johnny Brenda’s official website.
