Steve Lopez Interview

Lopez was an Inquirer reporter who became obsessed with a street musician, violinist Nathaniel Ayers. That obsession has become a book: “The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music,” and that book is going to be a movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. Lopez will be interviewed by Larry Platt, editor-in-chief of Philadelphia Mag. 2pm, free.

International Noise Conferance on Tour

Miami’s Laundry Room Squelchers have had their INC event on tour for all of spring. The event rules are simple: no laptops, no mixers, no droning. The Philadelphia day features almost every Philadelphia noise band in one place, all turning up and playing straight-ahead. More info at the Breathmint site. Stop in for an hour and ask someone if they consider the racket they are making “music.” 7pm to 1am, donations not discouraged.
