Caribbean Delight (on 11th and South, I believe) offers much better food and service for LITERALLY a quarter for the price. My (Jamaican) family's experience last night: * A rude and inept waitress * Barely any Jamaican presence * Ting for $3?! * Escovitch fish for $24 (the smallest snapper I have ever been served, and the only flavor was an over-abundance of black pepper) * Lukewarm curry goat, probably microwaved * Rice served a half-hour after the escovitch and goat, with barely any peas * My mother's escovitch was unaccounted for and not served until the rest of us were finished eating * Plantains weren't ripe and were tough instead of soft and sweet * Our waitress announced that my mother's credit card was declined due to "insufficient funds"...my mother's card wasn't declined...THEY DON'T ACCEPT AMERICAN EXPRESS and the waitress was too dim-witted to realize that before she embarrassed my family. * The cover band was enthusiastic, but honestly shitty...they butchered every Jamaican classic reggae song in existence (American boy trying to channel the voice of Bob Marley and Junior Murvin...not a good look). In short, this restaurant exploits Jamaican culture (fooling, obviously, the Rittenhouse residents from a few blocks away with their trendy ambiance and bland food) without delivering the quality.
