Miss Rachel’s Traveling Fare: Rachel Klein Personal Chef

Just one bite of Rachel Klein’s tofu and all of your memories of the mushy, watery junk that your dad ate when he was on a diet in 1982 will disappear. And what’s better, you don’t even have to leave your kitchen to experience it.
Rachel Klein is a 23-year-old Philadelphian who launched her own vegetarian/vegan personal cooking service. After working her way through restaurants like Horizons, The Pink Rose Pastry Shop and Azure, she attained her “ServSafe” certification and opened up “shop”. Rachel will come to your house to cook you dinner using mostly natural and organic (and always meat-free) ingredients that she brings herself. You just sit there and sip your wine while she mixes up dishes according to your dietary specifications.
In my case, I have no dietary specifications beyond requiring that what I eat be food, so Rachel followed her fancy and cooked my friend Stefanie and me delicate coconut and lemongrass jasmine rice with that delicious crispy sweet and sour tofu served with mango, vanilla ice cream wrapped in softened rice paper with fresh mango and strawberries and presented it with two tall, cold glasses of passion fruit bubble tea.
Rachel can prepare almost all of your dinners: she charges $300 to cook five dinners a week for two people (prepared at your house on Mondays) and $120 for one four-course meal for two. You can also hire her to cater your party or orchestrate a kid-friendly group cooking lesson.
