Philly Life Craft: Stamping For Stones Recap

You are so damn creative! <3 Your Fans

This was the note that was waiting for me when I returned from washing the glue and marker off of my hands during Philly.Life.Craft’s “Stamping for Stones” card-making fund raiser last Tuesday. Not since art class in elementary school have I had time to relax and make arts and crafts in such a nurturing environment, plus the fact that it the event was held during happy hour at Yell’o Bar was calming to my nerves (and to a small degree, my wallet) as well.

Some of the people in attendance were aficionados of the card-stamping subculture, who folded and pasted their cards together so effortlessly it was like they were making a sandwich. Others, like me, were first timers, but one important message that Tara Gupta, the brains behind Philly.Life.Craft, hopes people get out of her organization is that anyone, no matter how busy or inexperienced, can create arts and crafts.

The card-making process was divided into stations and we received complimentary handbags along with door prizes that included, in addition to anonymous notes scribbled with supportive phrases, home made cards and other stylish pieces of art, courtesy of Tara.

Philly.Life.Craft will continue to hold these arts and crafts workshops and Ms. Gupta said she is trying to get the word out, so if you are interested in learning more check it out on the web at phillylifecraft.com. Also, the Stone Soup Theater, who benefitted from the proceeds of “Stamping for Stones” is running their political satire “The Maguffin” from April 30th to September 6th at Philly Fringe.
