Kick off the Olympics with an Evening of Champions

The wait is over! The 2008 Summer Olympics are finally here! On 08/08/08 at 8pm, all eyes will be on Beijing as they showcase to the world the beauty of China and the rich culture of its people.
So what better place in Philadelphia to see the opening ceremonies than in my neighborhood, Chinatown! Kicking off at 5:30pm, Chinatown will play host to lions, dragons and Olympic Gold as we celebrate the Olympic spirit and highlight the traditions of Chinese culture.
Come meet more than 25 former Olympians including ice skater Johnny Weir and swimmer Nelson Diebel who brought home gold in the ’92 Olympics in Barcelona. You can even test your skills at the interactive Sports showcase where you can “pitch” to a Phillies catcher or take a shot at goal against the Flyers.
Stay to enjoy performances of traditional Chinese dance including a lion dance from my troop, the Philadelphia Suns. They’re guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit!
The Olympics only come every four years. It’d be be a shame to miss it!
