Stylin’ at Queen Beauty Supply

I have really wanted a razoring comb for awhile now. It’s basically a comb with razors in it that’s used for cutting hair. My recent shaggy haircut necessitated this purchase, so I stopped into Queen Beauty Supply on Chestnut. I was a little afraid to go in–the promise of 100% human hair /and/ cellphone accessories intimidated me slightly. How would I know what to ask for and how could I possibly find it? Upon entering, I saw that the store was jam packed with all kinds of odds and ends–not just hair and beauty accoutrements.

There were racks of rainbow colored nail polishes and lipsticks (including green, blue and various fluorescent shades). There were rows of hair dyes, hair products, wigs, weaves, combs and brushes, shoe laces, bandannas, coin purses and imported miscellany. I asked the small Asian proprietress if she could help me find a “comb with razors in it.” Bingo–she pulled one out from behind the counter. It was about $3 and it was called the “Tinkle Hair Cutter” by Dorco and boasted it could give me “the latest hair styling.” I poked around for a bit and found some spray hair glitter, purple shoelaces and some neon nail polish to add to my tab.

Overall, it was a pretty fun experience and only cost around $12. Even better? The Tinkle cut my hair and my boyfriend’s hair without incident and we both have cute matching haircuts.

If you need anything from pink hair dye to a Carol Channing wig and press-on nails, Queen Beauty Supply is a great place to begin your quest.
