She Loves You! – Beatlemania at the Society Hill Playhouse

I grew up on the Beatles. The first CD I ever owned was Help! — a present from my dad on my 11th birthday. By the time I was able to identify the band on the radio, I was firmly convinced that the Beatles were the best thing to have ever happened to rock n’roll “” WAY better than the Rolling Stones “” a belief I still hold today.

There’s no current band that comes even close to rivaling the Beatles in terms of popularity, influence and mass-hysteria. To grow up in the late 60s was to live through Beatlemania, a rare cultural phenomenon that can never be replicated (although Potter-mania comes close).

It can, however, be recreated. And such is the stated goal of She Loves You! “” an epic concert and multimedia extravaganza, featuring Beatlemania cast members, live Beatles songs and a cornucopia of advertisements, newsreel clips, television footage and more all about the fab four.

The show is divided into two acts: 1964-1966 and 1967-1969. I’m an Abbey Road girl myself, so I’m glad to know this will be closing out the show. I’m also psyched for the venue “” the Society Hill Playhouse “” a beautiful, Victorian theater that seats just 223 “” intimate enough to feel like you’re really part of the action. The show’s producers recommend guests wear “Ëœ60s attire to the premiere “” I already have my outfit picked out.
