Du Jour Cafe

Those seeking high-quality eats in a casual setting along the Avenue of the Arts need look no further than Du Jour Cafe. What sets the Symphony House restaurant apart from others in the area is that it’s not quite the $100 hotel brunch nor is it the $3 egg sandwich from a cart. If you do want an omelet with lobster tail and filet mignon or a Kobe Breakfast Slider, that’s fine, but know that your picky 6-year old can play with a trio of plain waffles at the very same table and not disrupt anyone in the open, laidback space. I know how some people are about pancakes, and I’m one of them. Du Jour turns out a considerate variety of stacks, but get ‘em crammed with white and dark chocolate chips if you know what’s up.

They’ve got you covered all afternoon with lunch selections and Illy coffee drinks, deep into the evening with a small plates menu of Foie Gras PB&J and Lobster Corn Fritters, larger entrees, and brick-oven flatbreads. More good news? They serve alcohol. The airy, cafeteria-like setting is slickly designed with an open kitchen and lots of light pouring in from the windows during the day, and the happenings of the city at night.
