Midtown Village Fall Festival

Post by Kelly White
Call it what you want, but refer to 13th Street between Chestnut and Walnut streets; Sansom Street between Juniper and 12th Streets; and Drury Lane as Midtown Village for at least one day. What you do the rest of the year is all you, but the third annual Midtown Village Fall Festival didn’t get this far without some serious re-imaging.
What’s it to you? The fore-mentioned streets are closed to traffic so that you can show off your new boots the way that Macy’s intended–a casual saunter uninterrupted by traffic lights and aggressive-cab-dodging. Eventually you will need a beer. You’ll be fully understood at Fergie’s forty-foot outside bar. It makes listening to Q102′s DJ Richie Rich a breeze, a crisp fall one at that. Follow up at RAW Sushi with a sake bomb or two, whatever it takes to get you into their Sumo Wrestling Ring. The only thing more challenging is the Moon Bounce in the Little Villagers kid’s area.
Pop by Absolute Abstract for $39 conversation pieces, Robin’s Books for their books-by-the-pound sale until you’ve got a bicep-working bag, and speaking of bags? It’d better be one of Open House’s organic cotton totes that you decorated yourself at their table. Take a breather with pork carnita tostadas from Lolita and a mango lassi from Bindi–the gang’s all here. Vintage and Time will have a wine and beer garden to fool around in later, but don’t miss outdoor karaoke at McGillin’s.
Other Midtown Village businesses will be on hand to slap the drunk outta you. Meet MANNA, the Bejamin Franklin Thinking Society, The Independent Hotel staff, and others. One more thing. Do make sure you hang out in Midtown more often. Even if you don’t call it that yet.
The Midtown Village Fall Festival drops on Saturday, October 4th, from noon-8pm.
