Kids love dinosaurs. Don’t buy them expensive video games. Treat ‘em to a big bag of comically colorful rubber t-rexes and triceratops, and let them turn your coffee table into the big herbivore meets carnivore battle!

To help them discover their love for dinosaur, take them to the Academy of Natural Sciences to see the brand new exhibit celebrating Hadrosaurus Folkii, our first dinosaur superstar. He (or she) is a local legend, found exactly 150 years ago near Hopkin’s Pond in Haddonfield, and the first completed dinosaur skeleton ever exhibited.

The creative folks at the Academy have created a delightful, charming exhibit that transports you back to the Mid 19th Century, and reintroduces important characters from that era who really deserve be part of our collective consciousness, even today.

The Academy has created all sorts of kooky events to tie in with the run of this cool exhibit. Take the kids, then clear the coffee table!

About the Blogger

I genuinely love Philadelphia, and along with Kristin, my wife, and sons Thornton and Ellis, we regularly, constantly I would dare say, treat Philly like a giant game board... with the Kimmell family as the game pieces. There is so much to experience and enjoy here... so many good and genuinely groovy people involved in so many fascinating endeavors. Writing for UWISHUNU is like sharing an exciting bit of news with friends... over and over again. The Barrymores grew up WHERE? The Water Works are totally romatic because...? Oh my God, the Clothespin really is huggin' and kissin'! You'll buy marzipan here, but not there? Mooloo Rising can only be seen from a car, and not from a Jeep or an SUV? Rosenbach was a wild man and a buccaneer? Philly is worthy and, if you have a sense of humor and see the world through a smile, it is an incredibly funny place to live, work and love.
