I can’t lie to you good people: I love Mexican food. So this past Friday, when deciding between heading over to Taco Riendo in Northern Liberties or Cantina Los Caballitos in South Philly, my girlfriend smartly suggested we check out “that place we always pass when we’re leaving No. Libs… what’s it called?” Bueno, se llama “Pura Vida!”

Located on the corner of 6th and Fairmount, nestled somewhere between Northern Liberties and North Broad Street, Pura Vida’s homestyle atmosphere and open-air kitchen are pleasantly awaiting your visit. It’s low-priced menu, consisting of delicious “antojitos” (appetizers, gringo!), the standard taco/burrito/quesadilla fare and full-on “platos” (main dishes), will forcibly slow your dinner choice with its breadth of options.

Feel like staying in? Pura Vida offers lunch delivery on orders over $20; if you’re heading out, bring your own tequila and make some tasty margaritas of your own! From traditional items (hand-made chips paired with hand-made guacamole and salsa) to more colorful dishes (grilled tilapia with tequila shrimp), Pura Vida covered “todas las bases” (all the bases).

just so you know, Pura Vida isn’t a Mexican restaurant. It could be categorized as Pan-Latin food.

“pura vida” is essentially Costa Rica’s country motto…so no, I wouldn’t classify a restaurant with that name as Mexican but it is tasty!!

the BEST burrito i have ever had. very high-quality steak and they give you a ton. I recommend getting it very spicy. P.S. if you go earlier it’s better, the female chef makes a much better burrito then the male chef

I am pretty sure Pura Vida is a Guatemalan restaurant.
