Meet Author Mary Anne Barothy @ Robin’s Bookstore

If you’re a fan of movie stars from the glam era of Hollywood, Robin’s Books is hosting an event with your name all over it. On December 11th, at 6PM, Mary Anne Barothy will be signing autographs and reading from her book, Day at a Time: An Indiana Girl’s Sentimental Journey to Doris Day’s Hollywood and Beyond.
The memoir chronicles Barothy’s life after traveling from her home in Indiana to Hollywood, where she landed a dream job working as a personal secretary to her idol, Doris Day. For several years in the 1970′s, Barothy lived in Day’s home and worked side-by-side with her during a turbulent time for the actress. According to the editor’s synopisis of the book: “she lost her first husband, Marty Melcher; her son was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident; she was fighting to regain the fortune that had been lost by an unscrupulous agent; and she was completing her TV series.”
In 2005, Doris Day was rated the 24th most popular film actress of all time by Premiere Magazine and there have been five books published about her in the last two years.
