I live in the East Passyunk area and I’m always trolling for more spots where I can guzzle some beer and get some hot food. My interest was piqued one day as I walked past 13th and Sigel Streets, right off Passyunk: a new bar called Lucky 13 was awaiting my arrival!
It’s a small, cozy spot with a great wood bar and a smattering of Schmidt’s lamps (the owner said that Schmidt’s was his dad’s favorite). The newly installed taps boast local brews from PBC, old standbys and more exotic quaffs like Golden Monkey. The food has been wonderful both times I’ve visited. I’ve had the tempeh sandwich, the Mediterranean platter with homemade hummus and baba ghanoush, the mushroom risotto, the unbelievable rigatoni mac and cheese, nachos with homemade chili and, my personal favorite, tomato and goat cheese soup!
With reasonable prices, a friendly owner/barkeep (Clark) and wonderful service (ask for Faith!), Lucky 13 just gave me a reason (besides visiting my grandma) to head south on Passyunk!
Did I mention the KILLER jukebox?

Lucky 13 rocks. It’s a great mix of neighborhood bar, better than average food, and good beer selection. Love it.
