From Galileo to Hubble: A Starry Night @ The Franklin

Photo by K. Ciappa for GPTMC

Looking for something stellar to do on April 9? Luckily, the Franklin Institute is offering Night Skies in the Observatory, a series that runs on the second Thursday of each month from 7-9 pm. This is your opportunity to experience the Joel N. Bloom Observatory alongside Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts. What better way to see the stars, planets, and nebulae than through five different professional telescopes pointed up at the heavens?

The April 9 event is called “From Galileo to Hubble: Do We See Today What Galileo Saw?” With a cost that is far from astronomical (it’s only $5 to get in and free for members), this night also includes a special Fels Planetarium show, “Two Small Pieces of Glass”, which is also Galileo-related.

If you want to focus even more on the famous astronomer, then get a combined ticket for “Night Skies” and the Galileo, the Medici & the Age of Astronomy exhibit (just $12 for adults, $7.50 for kids, free for members). Registration is not required, but it is recommended”"call 215-448-1254. Night Skies in the Observatory is the perfect mixture of stars and science, and will please the amateur astronomer and casual stargazer alike.
