Free Kayaking @ Penn’s Landing

The Philadelphia Museum of Art might be cutting back on their pay-what-you-wish Sundays, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t lots of other free things to do in Philly. Take, for instances, the new free kayaking program being launched at Penn’s Landing. This Sunday at 3 p.m., Mayor Nutter will be at the quay at Penn’s Landing, just south of the Independence Seaport Museum, to officially announce the project.
Throughout the summer, Philly residents and visitors will have the opportunity to paddle around Penn’s Landing, under the watchful supervision of trained staff. The hope is that it will give people a better connection with one of our most important local waterways in a fun and interactive way. Funding for this free kayaking program comes from the Take Me to the River grant program, which is administered by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission.
