Happy Hour at Ansill: Korean Tacos Hit Philly

Korean Tacos have recently taken LA and New York by storm, with people lining up for hours outside food trucks for a few bites of the juicy, tangy, Korean/Mexican fusion concoctions. No need to stand in line here – Ansill, a cute little Queen Village eatery, is the first (and only?) place in town to be serving them up. They’re offering them for just $5 a pop at happy hour, making the succulent morsels a perfect snack. Or, heck, have a couple and make it dinner.

That’s right, turn happy hour into dinner: Ansill’s happy hour runs from 6 to 8 (perfect for when you have to work late), Tuesday through Saturday. That’s right, a happy hour on Saturday! Could life get any better? The tacos are made of super-tender braised short ribs with fresh kimchi and a magical sauce served on top of a tortilla – fold it up yourself.

In addition to other food options, including an entire cheese menu, Ansill has a fabulous drink selection. During happy hour their eclectic list of draft beers are just $3, and you can get a whole quarter liter carafe of their fabulous house wine – about 2 glasses – for $5. The red goes wonderfully with the tacos. Oh, and don’t forget the $1 oysters. Ansill’s is definitely the most unique, classy, and affordable happy hour I’ve found in a long time. I’m going to be heading back this week for my taco fix…
