God bless ?uestlove and the mighty Roots crew. Dudes went international straight outta the Philly hip-hop scene. But even in the face of radio hits and tremendous commercial success, they are never far from what is going on right here at home. As if it weren’t enough that last year, they started the Roots Picnic, a truly Philly music festival, filled with artistry and soul purveyors as big as the Comcast Center, the guys still come home to do small DJ gigs and get the asses shaking even further.

The cement is barely dry on the Piazza at Schmidts, the newest NoLibs hotspot, and ?uest is already set to spin there, kicking off the official Roots Picnic afterparty this Sunday.

Now I know what you are thinking: the Roots Picnic is on Saturday. But unlike those other, less official afterparties, this one features the guy on the poster. Duh! And ?uest, along with event hosts Lee Jones & DJ Dirty provide you with the courtesy of giving you a few hours to recover from your hangover (musical or otherwise) before raging again, starting at noon the next day.

?uest appears as a guest DJ to the famous Sundae party, appearing at the Piazza from noon to 9pm and then continuing with an afterparty to the afterparty at the new Vino Restaurant. It will be a day to remember from this most-famous Philadelphian. And best of all, its free. You heard right, free 9-hour bash at the Piazza. You can’t touch this Illa-fifth dynamite. See you there!
